Puget Sound AVA

The first American Viticultural Area west of the
Cascade Mountain Rangein Washington. It covers the area from the Canadian border to just south of Olympia Washington. It was officially recognized in 1995.
Rainfall here is 15 inches (38cm) to 30 inches per year, mostly during dormant winter season. They have 180 day growing season. Grapes grown here include Madeleine Angevine, Siegerrebe and Muller-Thurgau , Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir
The majority of Puget Sound wineries obtain grapes from east of the Cascades.
