Baer Winery
19501 144th Ave NE, #F-100, Woodinville, WA 98702
|
Winemaker the late Lance Baer founded Baer Winery in 2000 with a single passion—to bring something unique to Woodinville. After years of working with some of the most prestigious wineries in the area, Lance wanted to take his winemaking skills in his own, creative, direction. Lance succeeded in handcrafting blends distinctly his own, and in April 2003 the winery’s signature blend, Ursa, was released.
Ursa, a feminine expression of red wine, predominantly Merlot and Cabernet Franc, was soon followed by Arctos, a bolder Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend.
Todya the family runs the winery which can produce 2400 cases per year. Baer Winery currently uses fruit exclusively from Stillwater Creek Vineyard, located in the Frenchman Hills on the Royal Slope of Washington State’s Columbia Valle

Bob Betz is the winemaker;
Bob holds the degree of Master of Wine (MW), a designation awarded by the Institute of Masters of Wine in London.
Kathryn House is the assistant winemaker.
All wines are aged in barrels. The barrels are all French, about 65% new every vintage for Cabernet Sauvignon Père de Famille and Clos de Betz , and about 50% new for the Rhone style wines. We use a mix of coopers, toast levels and forests to achieve complexity and interest. The wines spend from about12 to 13 months in barrel for Syrah, to 14 to 16 months for Cabernet Sauvignon in the barrel.
After bottling we age the wines in our cellar for 11-12 months before release.

Washington State's oldest winery, and known for its highly acclaimed Chardonnay, Merlot, Riesling and Cabernet. Situated on 87 wooded acres in Woodinville, Washington, 15 miles northeast of Seattle, Chateau Ste. Michelle is one of the top visitor and historic attractions in the Puget Sound area.
Built on the 1912 estate owned by Seattle lumber baron Frederick Stimson, the winery's roots date back to the Repeal of Prohibition, when the Pommerelle Wine Company and the National Wine Company were formed. They merged in 1954 to form American Wine Growers. In 1967, American Wine Growers began a new line of premium vinifera wines called “Ste. Michelle Vintners” under the direction of legendary California winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff
Ste. Michelle Vintners planted its first vines at Cold Creek Vineyard in Eastern Washington in 1972. Cold Creek remains one of the oldest and most renowned vineyards in the state. They now own more than 3,500 prime vineyard acres in the Columbia Valley .
